Cultural and historical visit to Soweto
On the return trip from Mpala you may have to wait a while in the Johannesburg airport.
You can spend this time experiencing Soweto right on the outskirts of Johannesburg, to which the black population was relegated during the apartheid before 1994. The trip is culturally and historically very interesting and includes a visit to the apartheid museum, Regina Mundi Church, where resistance against apartheid started, as well as a stop outside the houses of Nobel Price recipients Nelson Mandela and bishop Desmond Tutu.
