MPALA SUPPORTS THE LOCAL COMMUNITY

Both the school and the kinder garden

Education is important

Diphuti School

As a kind of  “thank you for borrowing”  their magnificent South Africa, we think it is only natural to give these poor children a little but much-needed help that can mean a better start to life.

What better start can be made than a good education can give. Together with the authorities, we laid out a plan for the construction of several class rooms. This has now resulted in a doubling of the area.

A wide range of initiatives and projects supported by Mpala have made the school’s everyday life easier: and more fun. These include:

  • Repair of the school pump well,
  • Goals for football field and football clothes, balls and boots.
  • Mpala, along with our guests, has donated countless school uniforms to the kids most in need of a new uniform.

Mpala will continue to support the school with uniforms.

The happy kind of the kindergarden

The small kindergarden

 in The Oaks

A small private kindergarten had very modest conditions. Over the years, Mpala has supported it by building a kitchen with a gas stove so that they no longer have to cook for the children outside over an open fire. Mpala will on a regularly base buy gas in bottles for kindergarten.

The children stayed most of the day out in the scorching sun, so Mpala built a half-roof for them so they can be in shade during the day’s hot hours.

In addition, we discovered that children slept for dinner on the bare concrete floor, so we have brought them a large pile of warm and soft blankets.

We must take care of eachother

The daytrip to Diphuti School and the kindergarden will be terminated so far.

Visits to the village school and kindergarten were previously a regular excursion on the program. But we have taken this visit off the programme, recognising that visiting the village, both for the children, their teachers and for the guests, is uncertain in terms of covid.

Our support to the school and kindergarten will continue unchanged, but the visit to the village is terminated so far.

In return, we put more safari into the program with an extra game drive on Wednesdays.

Our guests are still very welcome to participate with contributions to the project.
